The Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) program, part of Canada’s federal immigration system, allows foreign business owners to expand their operations by establishing a subsidiary or branch in Canada.
Under the ICT program, candidates will receive a work permit valid for one year, which can be extended multiple times (up to a maximum of seven years) as long as the business continues to operate and maintain a close relationship with the branch in Canada.
Benefits of the Program:
- No minimum investment requirement
- No need to prove financial resources
- No need to obtain a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA)
- Spouses and dependent children can apply to accompany them to Canada for work and study
- Work permit processing time is 3-4 months after application submission
- Work permit is valid for one year and can be extended for up to 7 years
- Permanent Residency (PR) applications can be submitted through various Federal or Provincial programs
The program offers opportunities for business expansion and development across multiple industries, allowing applicants to freely choose where to live, study, and work in any province in Canada. Candidates must also meet minimum language and education requirements and have sufficient financial resources to support themselves and their families. Once approved, candidates will receive a work permit and can apply for permanent residency after establishing their business in Canada.
