PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Whether you are outside or already in Canada, obtaining a study permit is a fantastic opportunity to enroll in one of the world’s top educational systems. A study permit allows you to work off-campus for up to 20 hours per week while studying and to receive a work permit after graduation. This post-graduation work permit enables you to work full-time anywhere in Canada, providing you with valuable work experience.

Studying in an advanced educational environment and gaining work experience in Canada is crucial for later applications for permanent residency, as it enhances your ability to adapt to life in Canada, contributes to the economy, and ultimately helps you build a family in this country. Studying in Canada also increases your chances of international career development or returning home with a broader skill set and knowledge, making it easier to find employment with international organizations entering developing markets.

Our team of experts will support you throughout the study permit application process, from school registration to obtaining your study permit. If you are married, you have the right to bring your spouse and children to Canada with you.

Family Benefits

While you study, your children can attend public schools for free, and your spouse can receive an open work permit to contribute to the family’s income. Choosing to study in Canada is an excellent decision if you have the financial means and are ready to return to school.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a Canadian study permit and why do I need it?

A study permit is an official document that allows international students to study at a Canadian educational institution. You need one if your course of study is longer than 6 months. However, to apply for a study permit, you need to receive a letter of acceptance from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada.

  • What are the requirements for applying for a study permit in Canada?

To apply for a study permit, you need:

    • An acceptance letter from a Designated Learning Institution (DLI).
    • Proof of sufficient finances to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return airfare.
    • No criminal record and good health (a medical examination may be required).
    • A commitment to leave Canada after completing your course.
  • Can I work while studying in Canada?

Yes, international students with a valid study permit can work up to 20 hours/week during term time and full-time during breaks (such as summer vacation). This applies to on- or off-campus work without the need for a separate work permit.

  • How much does it cost to apply for a study permit?

The current application fee for a study permit is CAD 150. You may also need to pay a biometrics fee (approximately CAD 85) when you submit your application.

  • How long is a study permit valid for?

The duration of a study permit is usually the length of your course plus 90 days to prepare to leave Canada or extend your permit, if necessary. If you are enrolled in a short-term course (less than 6 months), you do not need a study permit but will not be allowed to stay longer to continue your studies.

  • Is financial proof required when applying for a study permit?

Yes, you must demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover tuition, living expenses (minimum CAD 10,000/year, in addition to tuition), and travel expenses. You can provide bank statements, scholarships, or letters of sponsorship from relatives to demonstrate financial means.

  • Can I bring my family (spouse, children) with me when I study abroad?

Yes, your spouse and dependent children can come with you when you study in Canada. Your spouse can apply for an open work permit, allowing them to work full-time while you study. Dependent children can study in Canadian public schools without needing a separate study permit.

  • How long does it take to process a study permit application?

The processing time for a study permit application depends on your country, but usually takes between 4 and 12 weeks. You should apply early, at least 4-6 months before your course starts, to ensure you have enough time to process and prepare your documents.
